Flushed Away

Friday morning at the office. My guts rose in unease and I ran to the washroom, spotting an unused stall. And so I opened the door, and there it was - something I hadn't seen in years.

The squat toilet (和式, washiki) is an understated highlight of Japan - and indeed of Asia as a whole. Using a squat toilet is truly a memorable experience, which apart from giving health benefits, also saves water.

At home, the flush toilet consumes the most water, a valuable resource not accessible to nearly 1 out of 7 people. Unsurprisingly, wars are fought over it.

The squat toilet is basically a hole in the ground, usually coated with porcelain. The user squats over the toilet; and a shallow trough collects the waste, instead of a large water-filled bowl as in a Western toilet. In Japan, the squat toilet is cradle shaped, with a hood that one is supposed to face while using.

The flush is often operated in the same manner as a Western toilet, though some have pull handles or pedals instead. Most have a dual flush system, similar in application to the newer dual flush toilet (although cheaper to install and easier to clean). There are are two kinds of flush, small (小) for urine; and big (大) for excrement - the difference being the amount of water used.

More traditional ones (like the Meiji-era toilet above) have a bucket of water adjacent and a ladle to flush water down - which uses ~2 litres of water per flush. In contrast, an old style single flush toilet can use up to 13 litres of water in one flush. That's 5 times extra the daily drinking water amount needed by an average person literally flushed down the toilet - something half the world has limited access to.

Squat Toilet (和式) Health Benefits
  • Makes elimination faster, easier and more complete. This helps prevent "fecal stagnation," a prime factor in colon cancer, appendicitis and inflammatory bowel disease.
  • A highly effective treatment for hemorrhoids
  • For pregnant women, squatting avoids pressure on the uterus when using the toilet. Daily squatting helps prepare one for a more natural delivery.

Ways you can help provide safe water to those who don't have it:

How you can Save Water and Save Money($$$)
Eat Less - 1kg of beef requires 16000 litres of water to produce
Buy Less and Use Less Power - lots of water is used in power and material production

Kim Jong Un Appears

In worker's paradise North Korea, Dear Leader Kim Jong Il's heir apparent, Kim Jong Un has been introduced to the world in a rare appearance on the country's 65th anniversary of its ruling party on Sunday.

Kim Jong Un (김정은) is the youngest son of celebrity Kim Jong Il (김정일), the Father of Korea who is renown to be able to control the weather;

a power, no doubt, passed down from his own father, Kim Il Sung (김일성), who singlehandedly drove the Japanese occupiers from the Korean peninsular during World War 2.

Kim Jong Il's eldest son, Kim Jong Nam (김정남) however, is said to be opposed to dynastic succession for the Korean leadership.

Kim Jong Nam himself was once considered to be the successor to the communist leadership, before being caught trying to enter Japan with a fake passport.

Kim Jong Un is said to resemble his father more:

All hail the Kims for creating a truly independent country under the juche principle - liberating Koreans from imperialism, capitalism and their own stomachs.

If a burrito is made with scrambled eggs, bacon, and breakfast sausage is there no crime since there was no supposed victim. Well good sir, the victim was common decency battered, abused, and raped lying on the floor in her own hollandaise. Will no one weep for the victim? Will no one prosecute the monster who perpetrated this offense against everything good and honest in the culinary world? No one ever thought to ask what the burrito wanted. Did anyone think she didn't want to be made into such an abomination as a breakfast burrito? For shame for denying her pain. For shame for denying her humiliation. For shame for denying her suffering

A 2d loli is gang-raped by multiple otakus; and or in many different ways.

Hollandaise = a type of sauce
Lying in her own cum? A scene from many a doujin.

Will no one think of the imaginary children!?

Analyzing the words of a lunatic has left me in despair.
